Review of previous MOE Guidelines
Vaccination Uptake Among Children Aged 5–11
- As of 13 February 2022, about 213,000 children aged 5 to 11 have received at least one vaccine dose, with over 120,000 having completed both doses.
- In MOE primary schools, 79% of students have signed up, and 75% have already received at least one dose.
- Projections indicate 70% or more of primary school students will be fully vaccinated by the end of February 2022.
Vaccination of Pre-schoolers
- 23,500 pre-schoolers (born in 2016 and 2017) have registered through MOH’s system, and close to 18,000 have received at least one dose.
- 26,500+ children have received the vaccine under the general walk-in arrangement at paediatric vaccination centres (VCs).
School-Facilitated Vaccination Exercise (Term 2)
- Starting in Term 2 (after March 2022 holidays), MOE will organize transportation for students in Primary 1 to 6 who are under 12 and medically eligible to get vaccinated at paediatric VCs.
- Parents/guardians can opt in for their children to be vaccinated without parental accompaniment.
- Details on registration will be shared via Parents Gateway on 18 February 2022.
Alternative Options for Early Vaccination
- Parents/guardians who prefer to vaccinate their child before Term 2 can:
- Walk in to any paediatric VC from Monday to Thursday before 7pm (or before 4pm at Yusof Ishak Secondary School’s VC) without an appointment, or
- Book an appointment through the National Appointment System (NAS).
Encouragement to Vaccinate Early
Higher vaccination rates will also support a safe and gradual resumption of more school activities, aiding students’ overall development.
With the Omicron surge, parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to vaccinate their children early to reduce infection risk and the likelihood of severe illness.
